Gorgeous extended range electric vehicle from Korean automaker

The i-oniq is pure concept car, says Hyundai designer Michel Glenisson, with a mission to ‘challenge what we know’ about car design.

It looks so much better in the flesh, sporting those concept car essentials: gullwing doors. It also looks a little like a Volvo from the back. The i-oniq is a range-extended EV with a surprising amount of room inside for four people – the front seatbacks swing pivot out of the way to make it easier for rear seat occupants to climb on board.

The interior looks hugely welcoming, too, and overall, the i-oniq is a very handsome beast. And even though Glenisson says it is a pure concept, he does say that it is a realistic shape, saying “This is not totally a Martian concept”. Indeed.
