The Karma is a high performance, high end plug-in with an 'extended range' electric vehicle (E-REV) drivetrain. That means it can be plugged in and charged, allowing an amount of pure electric motoring but there's also a petrol engine that fires up and acts as an electrical generator when the battery reaches a minimum charge level allowing additional mileage between stops.

Range on electric only is a claimed 50 miles and, after the engine cuts in, the total range between fill ups/ charges is 250 miles.

The car went into production at Finland’s contract manufacturer Valmet in the first half of 2011. After ramp-up, Fisker is aiming for an ambitious 15,000 cars per year, split between saloon, ‘Sunset’ convertible and a recently-announced 'Surf' body style.
