BMWs electric test bed Mini E

prev
  • The MINI E was a testbed for BMW's new Project i electric vehicle programme.
  • A total of 40 people in the UK, based mainly in the Oxford area, were involved in the trial.
  • One of the drawbacks of the MINI E was the removal of the rear seats to accomodate the electric drivetrain.
  • Another drawback, and one that plagues all EVs, is the drop in performance in cold weather.
  • Users liked many things about the MINI E, including the fact that performance matched that of many petrol hatches in its class.
